About Me
My name is Lexi King, and I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in communications at Cornerstone University. My academic journey began at Texas Christian University, where I studied journalism before transferring to Cornerstone. While my academic journey has continued to evolve, my interest in communication has remained focused on a desire to connect with others, tell meaningful stories, and bring communities together.
Throughout my time in college, I have developed a particular interest in marketing, project management, video editing, content creation, and event planning. Whether it was creating content on the sidelines of a football game, interviewing students and turning it into a polished video, or creating an event and marketing campaign for an organization, all of these experiences have strengthened my abilities I can bring to my work, like being creative, taking initiative, accomplishing meaningful goals, working with many types of people, and being flexible.
Beyond the classroom, helping those in my community has played an important role in the kind of professional and person I hope to become. I genuinely enjoy volunteering and finding opportunities to contribute to the communities around me. Volunteering with organizations such as Meals on Wheels and elementary schools has shown me how meaningful it can be to connect with those around us. I want my work to reflect those same values and create an environment where people feel valued, connected, and cared for.
In the next year, I plan to finish my undergraduate degree; continue developing my video editing, event planning, content creation, and marketing skills through internships, networking opportunities, and independent work; work on my book I am currently writing; and become a leader/mentor for high school-aged girls in my church. Looking beyond that, I plan to pursue my master's degree in communication, publish my book, or get a marketing, event planning, or video editing position for a university, sports team, private club, or performing arts center and develop a nonprofit organization with the tools and resources to help anyone from any background achieve their goals and dreams. Ultimately, I hope to use my passion for communication, creativity, and service to make a meaningful impact on the people and communities around me.
